Billy Currington is definitely doin' something right as evidenced by his 2016 Summer Forever Tour. It was a cool summer evening and Ned Ledoux, son of the late music icon Chris Ledoux, just wrapped up a great set. Fans were warmed up waiting for Billy to hit the stage when suddenly the US NAVY flew overhead and let loose six paratroopers who jumped out of the plane with flames and sparkles lighting up the dark sky. The crowd screamed and cheered and we watched in awe as these six men danced in the air and landed behind the stage. The crowd chanted USA, USA; Im sure it could be heard for miles. Now I've been to alot of shows throughout the years and I've NEVER seen an opening act like this before. Without a doubt this is one for the history books! Well done Billy! What a way to start a show!
Billy came out swinging. The crowd instantly joined in and started singing along. His country swagger and beautiful voice endeared him to everyone in the audience.
His setlist was full of fan favorites and included
Don't It,That's How Country Boys Roll, Love Done Gone, I Got A Feelin', Wake Me Up, Pretty Good At Drinkin' Beer, Nowhere Town,Let Me Down Easy,It Don't Hurt Like It Used To,Do I Make You Wanna,Give It To Me Straight, People Are Crazy, Hey Girl and more... He had the crowd rockin and swayin and singing to the music right along with him. It was pretty amazing.
His style is simple - guitar and his voice. He makes a great show look effortless. He transcends boundaries and limitaitons of not having huge productions. Other than the US Navy before the show, there were no laser lights, no big video screen or anything fancy during Billy's performance. He relies heavily on his biggest asset: his vocals and they were perfect! It was a fun night and a great show. It was just really good music.
