Jingle Bell Rock Tour...
Featuring: Eddie Money, Edgar Winter & John Cafferty By: Michele Mannis
Eddie Money!
John Cafferty, Edgar Winter and Eddie Money delivered a timeless set of well loved hits. These world class rockers put on a really good show. They energized a festive crowd at the Odgen Theatre in Denver this holiday season. As each artist hit the stage, they each sang three or four songs out of their arsenal of hits and spiced it up with a few Christmas carols.
John Cafferty was first out of the gate starting the show and getting the crowd hooked. During Cafferty's first song (Tough All Over) Edgar Winter casually strolled on stage, his long white hair glistening under the lights, and lends Cafferty a helping hand by playing the sax. It was at that moment you knew the show had begun! As Cafferty continued to play I found myself totally enjoying his performance. I couldn't stop dancing to "On The Dark Side" and along with the crowd I couldn't stop swaying to "Tender Years!" No one could. The melodies still linger and I'm still tapping my foot to the rhythms.
Edgar Winter... what can I say. This multi-talented man carried the show. His voice was spot-on and he was so full of life the entire time he was on stage. His talent was limitless. From the many instruments he played, to his voice, Winter's was truly captivating. He held notes so long I swear they were beyond human. His vocals sent the crowd an energy jolt, courtesy of an expanded and amped up "Frankenstein" and totally wow'd the crowd as he seemlessly transitioned into Nat King Cole's "The Christmas Song." It was a moment I won't soon forget.
Eddie Money, an original showman, offered the audience a chance to rock out and reminisce to some of his most recognizable songs. As usual Eddie brought his Two Tickets to Paradise and took us all along with him. The Money Man definitely knows how to take the crowd down memory lane! There were lots of whoa, whoa, whoa's for us to sing as Eddie put the crowd to work on Chorus duty! Actually I think we sang more than he did.
The encore brought all three performers on stage and ended with the trio performing their version of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over).” The entire set, though not very long, was loaded with hits and Christmas melodies. Between the three of them, it was built to deliver the perfect night of entertainment!
Merry Christmas Everyone!
