Eddie & Flo - The Turtles
The Happy Together tour was a fun time, with a mix of 60s and 70s pop and rock. The artist on this tour were Mitch Ryder (and the Detroit Wheels), Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad, Chuch Negron from Three Dog Night, and of course vocalists Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman, better known as Flo and Eddie of The Turtles.
All the acts in the show are great fun and make you smile, laugh and you can't help but sing-along.
Mitch Ryder was the opening singer, with great enery who still has a great voice. His setlist included; Little Latin Lupe Lu,
Jenny Take A Ride, Sock It To Me Baby,
Too Many Fish In The Sea & Three Little Fishes, Devil With A Blue Dress & Good Golly Miss Molly.
Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad was second in the lineup and for us rockers totally stole the show. He is an ageless wonder who sounded as good today as he did in his hey day. His stage presence, voice and charisma left the audience wanting him to stay on stage. Mark's setlist included; Locomotion, We’re An American Band, Bad Time, Some Kind Of Wonderful and Closer To Home (I’m Your Captain).
Chuck Negron of Three Dog Night was third to appear and really put a little rock in the show and had the audience lovin' "Joy to the World". Wow, talk about good times! Music is the closest we can come to a time machine and it's always wonderful to return to the music of this era. Chuck's setlist included; Shambala, Celebrate,
Mama Told Me (Not To Come), Eli’s Coming,
One and the fan favorite Joy To The World!
Last but not least was Flo & Eddie of The Turtles.
Their setlist included; She’d Rather Be With Me, You Baby, It Ain’t Me Babe,You Showed Me, Eleanore & of course the one that everyone was waiting for...Happy Together! After watching this show it's not hard to understand why the oldies live on. Seeing these guys on the same stage was amazing. They had everyone singing and bopping in their seats to the beat of the music. For anyone who lived through the 60's and 70's this is a must see show.
We continue to love the music from that era and appreciate the performers.
As for the Encore... All the acts joined The Turtles for a medley of hits.
The Turtles and company were excellent! Well done!
It was a good concert with four very entertaing acts. Nothing but hit after hit. The energy of Mark Farner was unparalleled. Chuck Negon belted out the Three Dog night hits with ease, and Mitch Ryder at 70 something could still sing those hits! When he dedicated "Devil With A Blue Dress On" to all the ladies in the audience the shrill was deafening. The Turtles were fun and entertaining. The same band supported all acts, and they were very good.
The Happy
together Tour had everything, music, comedy, nostalgia, and some crazy stories. Each entertainer was personable with stories that made us laugh and music that made us remember a better time. It's hard to believe these guys have been around for forty to fifty years and they still sound great! If you want to feel like a teenager again then be sure to see The Turtles Happy Together Tour in a city near you. It's groovey man!
