Casey James... An enormous talent. A great singer and a wicked guitarist with mad skills. When he jams on that guitar it feels like an extension of his voice. With his easy-going swagger, his show has something for every country fan. No stranger to entertaining, this Season 9 American Idol alum placed third behind winner Lee DeWyze and runner up Crystal Bowersox and after touring with Sugarland, Casey debuted his first country album - Casey James - in March of this year. It debuted at Number 2 on the Billboard Country Album Chart upon its release a few weeks ago. He also co-wrote 9 of the 11 tracks on the album including his first single. Fans can order "Casey James" now on iTunes.
Casey James is well on his way to a long and steady career in the country music industry. He is making people sit up and take notice, and not just with his gorgeous blue eyes and boyishly handsome good looks either. His debut single "Let's Don't Call It A Night" found a home on country music radio as soon as it was released.
Casey's self-titled CD is as solid as his live performance. Makes you listen to it from beginning to end - no skipping tracks - not a filler on it. He has you swaying along with every song he plays, so when I heard that Casey James was playing in Bancroft Park for Territory Days in Old Colorado City, Colorado this Memorial Day I had to go. I have to say he didn't disappoint. He put on such a good show from beginning to end... just like his CD.
I learned that Casey is quite the story teller. He related beautifully with the crowd as he told us the story behind every song he sang, much to the delight of the audience.
A pivotal moment in the concert came when Casey shared with us the meaning behind a song he co-wrote called "Miss You When You're Gone". It's a simple, beautiful song about missing the ones you love while you're away from home. He told us how he was genuinely touched while singing this song for our troops. Seeing how it made so many of our men and women cry, he realized for the first time just how many people this song resonates with.
Ok so now... A Casey James show is filled with plenty of fun, uptempo beats as well as many poignant moments. With songs like "She's Money" and "Workin On It", Casey had heads bopping and the crowd going. But it was the familiar sound of his first single "Let's Don't Call It A Night" that had everyone cheering - especially the ladies! Casey's cover of Tony Joe White's "Polk Salad Annie" was as feisty as it gets. It showed off those mad skills of his - his mastery of guitar - and left everyone with a big WOW! Quite simply, Casey James delivered a terrific performance.
OH WHAT A SHOW!
The setlist included: "She's Money", "The Good Life",
"Let's Don't Call It A Night", "Love The Way You Miss Me", "Workin' On It", "Drive", and more.
Casey James is by far one of the most talented musicians to come off of American Idol. He is a joy to watch. His singing was spot on, his guitar playing was outrageous and highly energetic, and his personality shined. His easy-going swagger and sense of humor supports the “Story Telling” portion of his show. He is so at ease with the crowd. It was delightful! It was definitely an "OH WHAT A SHOW" performance! Oh and BTW, if you get the chance to chat with Casey, ask him about Apartment 21B!
