Kenny Loggins brought his smooth blues-rock sound to the Colorado State Fair, September 1st. Loggins first gained fame as part of the Duo Loggins and Messina before embarking on a solo career, during which time he won him two Grammys and penned the hits "Footloose," "Danger Zone" and "I'm Alright," all of which continued to make him a household name.
It's always great attending a show and hear music you can still tap your foot and shake your head to, and that's what we got. Kenny delivered a nice blend of hits featuring his wide vocal range and get-off-your-seat rock 'n roll fun." His voice, his music, and his band, made for yet another fantastic night at the Fair. He was really on his game.
Now in his 4th decade of performing, everyone could learn a thing or two from Kenny. He still knows how to put on a rockin' show. It's hard to believe he's been rockin' out for 40+ years. He not only looks good but shows no sign of slowing down. What a treat to see him on stage, smiling, having fun, looking healthy and delivering great music.
He performs with passion, style, and class. Old stuff, new stuff, didn't matter. It was all good.
Also - the band - great drummer, superb keyboard player, wonderful, talented guitarists - the whole band totally rocked. Together along with Kenny they had the audience happily singing from the Loggins’ catalog of songs. Whether it was “Return to Pooh Corner” or “Danger Zone” the crowd was lovin' every minute of it!
Kenny came out strong from the first song, "Conviction Of The Heart," and the variety of music that followed were all great. Slow to fast - blues to rock and roll - old hits to current music - it was all there and it was all amazing!
He played a great set, fully engaging the audience, absolutely entertaining and completely in-the-moment.
The set list delivered in a compact 1 1/2-hour never wanted for energy or intensity. It was built to deliver the perfect night of entertainment and entertain it did!
The Set List included:
"Conviction of the Heart,"
"Return to Pooh Corner,"
"This Is It,"
"Your Mama Don't Dance,"
"Angry Eyes,"
"Leap Of Faith"
"Celebrate Me Home" and
"I'm Alright" among others.
Treating the audience to a double encore he played
"Your Mama Don't Dance (with rock 'n' roll medley)" and roaring versions of “Danger Zone” and “Footloose” and a mean version of
Cream's "Crossroads."
He concluded the show with his second encore and another crowd pleaser - "Forever."
The band really jammed and showed off their skills during "Angry Eyes." The mastery on stage was wonderful to watch and fantastic to listen to.
He hooked me with "Celebrate Me Home." What an extraordinary performance. It was spellbinding. He engaged the crowd to help sing it with him and from a fan perspective it was so good it could have been an encore performance. He voice was pitch perfect and full of power. Yes it was spellbinding! I along with everyone else loved it.
Kenny's vast talent covers all types of music, from love songs, to classic rock, to leap of faith, to children's tunes (The House at Pooh Corner) and his dynamic performance makes the audience want to jump up and dance and sing! It was great entertainment value for the sticker price too.
There was no Jim Messina but Loggins put on one helluva show. Thank you Kenny & Co for one of my most memorable evenings.
Favorite Performance - His 'Spellbinding' rendition of "Celebrate Me Home."
Final thought - The only people disappointed were those that didn't go. Oh What A Show!
